Despite programming mostly in PHP and Symfony, I always try to keep up to date with other programming languages and methodologies so I can keep improving my knowledge and skills. By having a more global knowledge, even if it is superficial, about other technologies, I can have a better view of options when starting a new project so I can choose the most appropriate technology to fulfill the project requirements.
Also, I can take ideas and techniques from other languages and frameworks about how to do certain task.
One of the main reasons I like to be a programmer, is that I can make other people lives easier by developing solutions that automate the boring work and make them more productive, leaving them with more time for enjoying their lives.
I think its important to be really good at something but dont ignore all the rest. There is allways room for improvement.
The most important thing is: never stop learning!
